Trulli probará con Waltrip Racing
Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR) anunció oficialmente que su equipo se prepara para una futura prueba del ex piloto de Toyota F1. Trulli estará ensayando con el Toyota Camry entre los días 16 y 17 de noviembre en el circuito de media milla New Smyrna Speedway en Florida.
Por su parte, Mika Salo, también ex piloto de Toyota F1, estará acompañando al italiano en dicha prueba. El propietario del equipo, Michael Waltrip, le dará una oportunidad a Trulli en uno de sus autos seriamente, aunque las intenciones iniciales del piloto son tomar contacto por primera vez con estos vehículos y con los óvalos.
Waltrip dijo: “somos serios con respecto a esta prueba, Toyota lo está respaldando, nuestro equipo, los ingenieros, todos estamos comprometidos. No sé cuáles son los planes de Trulli. Sé que lo quiere hacer por diversión, pero será importantes para él hacerlo. Es un piloto de carreras, querrá ser más rápido que cualquiera y nosotros vamos a hacer todo para darle el apoyo que necesite para conseguirlo”.
Pese a que Trulli mantiene sus opciones de permanecer en la Fórmula 1, tanto él como Salo han dejado una puerta abierta para poder seguir los pasos de su ex colega Juan Pablo Montoya en el futuro.
Steve Hallam, antiguo director de operaciones de McLaren y actual director de competición de MWR, expresó: “si vemos a Montoya, él lo está haciendo excepcionalmente bien. Es un gran talento y nos está mostrando que un piloto que proviene de los monopostos, y particularmente con mente abierta como Juan Pablo, se está destacando en la serie”.
La semana pasada, Trulli estuvo visitando el MWR en Carolina del Norte y espera presenciar la competencia en Phoenix del domingo próximo antes de conducir un auto de NASCAR por primera vez.

el twitter de Tony Fernandes, jefe del equipo Lotus, dice que ya tienen firmado su primer piloto y que será confirmado brevemente... empiezan las bolas por todo lado de que se trata de Trulli, así que hay que estar atentos a ver qué pasa...

Trulli favourite for the Lotus seat
The Malaysian-owned new Lotus team has signed its first driver for the 2010 season, boss Tony Fernandes revealed on his Twitter page. "Public announcement soon," he said. "The dream continues."
It is likely the signed driver is the Italian veteran Jarno Trulli, with the Malaysian World Series by Renault driver Fairuz Fauzy expected to secure the role as tester.
"Fairuz will be in the team probably as a reserve driver or a test driver," technical director Mike Gascoyne told Malaysia's The Star.
"He has the talent but we don't want him to 'crash and burn' in the race because of his inexperience," the Briton added.

Pues la verdad yo prefiero que se quede en F1...
Cada cabeza es un mundo, pero yo me quedaría en F1 en vez de irme a NASCAR... varas completamente distintas, y completamente distantes

Precisamente, a cada rato, pilotos de todo el mundo le preguntan a Montoyita, de como es la cosa ahi, y a este mae le cuadro mas Nascar que cualquier otra cosa que haya corrido, publicamente lo ha dicho. La adrenalina esta ahi todo el tiempo, nada es controlable ni predecible.

Formula One driver Jarno Trulli recently wrapped up his 2009 season with the Toyota Racing F1 team on the state-of-the-art Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, UAE. For the Italian it was a bittersweet event, as Toyota announced that they were pulling out of the pinacle open-wheel series, just days after the end of the 2009 season.
Trulli's future is unknown at this time; one new team for the 2010 season has recently shown interest but for now he had an interesting fun time in New Smyrna, Fla., USA, where he was behind the wheel of the No. 55 Toyota Camry belonging to Michael Waltrip Racing.
"They (Trulli and Mika Salo) wanted to test our NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota and see what our sport is all about," Waltrip said. "They did an outstanding job and were turning some pretty quick times. We were just as serious about this two-day test as they were. We brought down an entire crew. Toyota, our team and engineers fully supported this effort. We were 100% committed to giving it our all just like we would at any of our tests."
Instead of the usual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series ovals, Trulli toured the 0.47-mile New Smyrna Speedway, completing close to 300 laps. The small short track was re-paved in 2007 and since then, several of the NASCAR teams hold testing sessions on the oval.
"In the beginning, it was a big shock for me," said Trulli. "It was the first time in my life I was leaving pit road in a closed cockpit. I needed to get used to that feeling of not having my head out. I'm used to being in a stiff car on the ground. The Cup car moves around a lot. It requires skill, feeling and understanding. There are so many different factors and you need to be a smart person to be aware of what is happening around you."
The Italian took in yesterday's test ran by another former F1 star, who is more at home in a sports car. Mika Salo has most recently raced a Ferrari in the American Le Mans Series, earning the GT2 championship in 2008, and has won in the LM GT2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the Finn immediately took to the challenge of running a stockcar.
"I was very comfortable out there and had a lot of fun. I was quick and I know that if I had today to test, I would be a lot quicker. Now, I want to have 42 other cars around me and see what it is really like," smiled Salo.
Besides Cup racer Michael Waltrip and one of his team's drivers, Trevor Bayne who will contest the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the new formed Diamond-Waltrip Racing in 2010, also on hand with a surprise visit was Mark Martin.
Martin, who drives for Hendrick Motorsports, sits second in the Cup series points as the Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck teams head for Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend for the final NASCAR races in 2009.
"All of a sudden, Mark Martin was here at New Smyrna," Salo said. "He sat down in front of me and I listened. I learned some things from him during his time here."
Trulli commented at the end of the test day his feelings about a possible future in NASCAR. "I didn't know about NASCAR until Juan Pablo Montoya made his move. The world has changed and everyone is looking at different Series," he said. "I haven't signed with anyone yet and I've talked to teams. My door is open right now."

Lo que ocure es que existen personas q se les es imcompresinble e inentendible de que la adrenalina y la velocidad no es algo exclusivo a una curva ala dercha o a la izquierda
Nascar, que es algo DISTINTO a la F1, tiene sus propias caracteristicas y dificultades, no existen elemetos electronicos, no tienen la misma ligereza, facilidad de maniobrar, etcetc q une carro de la F1
Pero como es facil decir "eso no tiene ciencia, no le veo la emocion de ir en un ovalo" desde un teclado.entonces VAMONOS, desportican por desporticar
les aseguro algo, el propio Trulli se encargara de hacernos saber lo NO FACIL q es ser competitivo en nascar (por q otra cosa es esa, ser competitivo, cosa q no es facil)
no por que no less guste, significa q sea menos complejo o dificil.

ironicamente, Nascar es una de las categorias, sino la categoria que en promedio MEJOR LE PAGA A SUS PILOTOS.
La "maxima" categoria, la ultima maravilla del deporte... "lo maximo de la adrenalina no existe nada igual o mejor", AKA F1 le paga MISERIAS a sus pilotos en general, solo son unos cuantos q tienen contratos y ganan suficiente buen dinero. el resto, ganan miserias.
peor aun cuando se toma en cuenta de q muchos viven en europa, donde el costo de la vida es altisimo.

Amigo Trulli, lo que ocurre es que existen personas, q por ignorancia o desconocimiento piensan q en nascar solo basta pisar el pedral y tener el tiimon dioblado a la izquierda

Claro... estamos de acuerdo en que cuando uno se aburre de algo, pues es bueno buscar otra cosa que nos entretenga... no tiene nada de malo.
NASCAR debe ser muy emocionante y debe subir la adrenalina al máximo por el hecho de que la velocidad está presente casi que en todo momento de la carrera, no hay que bajar la velocidad drásticamente para tomar las curvas, ahí es siempre a toda velocidad, por lo cual se aumenta el riesgo de los accidentes (digo yo )... eeeeentonces, sí debe ser más emocionante.
De todos modos, insisto, gustos son gustos... yo sigo prefiriendo la F1

NASCAR tiene sus factores para hacerla sumamente emocionante, de eso estoy seguro. De hecho para mí NASCAR es tuanis, no me parece que sea aburrido ni nada por el estilo.
Como vos decís, son cosas DISTINTAS... por eso nadie sabe si Trulli llegará a ser competitivo o no... es como que un mae que es muy bueno en baloncesto (digamos Michael Jordan) se ponga a probar en el baseball (no fue competitivo).
Habrá que ver qué tan bien le va a Jarno en NASCAR si es que se va ... por lo demás, insisto, me quedo con la F1
