BMW: Kubica almost ready to race in F1
Wednesday, April 12th 2006, 13:49 GMT
BMW motorsport boss Mario Theissen reckons third driver Robert Kubica will be ready to race in Formula One towards the end of the season.
Kubica earned his first Formula One test after winning last year's World Series by Renault championship.
The Pole, who made his Formula One debut at the wheel of a Renault late last year, drives BMW's third car during Grand Prix weekends, and his performances have exceeded BMW's expectations.
"We are very impressed with the development of Robert so far," said Theissen. "He exceeds constantly our expectations as third driver.
"If he keeps growing like this, he would be race ripe towards the end of the year."
BMW's racing drivers are Nick Heidfeld and Jacques Villeneuve, the Canadian's contract coming to an end at the end of this season.
