Team News: Arrow Racing Karts - Rotax Grand Nationals
Arrow Racing Karts had big results in Denver, CO at the Champ Car Rotax Kart Challenge Grand Nationals. Winning DD2, Stuart Marsell was backed up by brother Brandon Marsell in second. The Marsells were supported by BTK Motorsports and the Marsell’s long time tuner Shayne Shipley at SpeedTech.
“We were confident coming into this event said BTK’s Terrence McCall, with the help of local Arrow Dealer, Barry Lewis at Billet Performance having put in a tremendous amount of work testing for the entire Arrow Team. We would not have been where we were had we not had the great support of the guys from Billet. This was a new track for us and thanks to Barry and his expertise we came here ready to go” McCall said.” The DD2 podium was almost an Arrow sweep with local favorite Kyle Ray finishing fourth.
In the Master’s Class Eric Jackson gave us some excitement finishing second before an unfortunate disqualification. This moved another Arrow Racer, Jerry Tatum from third to second. These were big highlights for us after the upset of Maverick Bartlett, who was leading so strong in the prefinal and lost a chain putting him in the back of the field.
Overall results for the Arrow brand were good with WKA, hot shoe, Cody Robinson competing in his fourth ever Rotax race, finishing fourth. In the Senior Class, Arrow Racer Kyle Demeter came from 29th after a prefinal incident sent him to the back. Demeter finished fifth just ahead of Michael Self in sixth and Eddie Coffin in eighth. Demeter also set the fastest lap of the race. For the second year in a row, an Arrow Racer won the much coveted scholarship. Michael Self was the recipient of the Skip Barber Scholarship.
The Senior Class, was to be a really strong event for us with Eric Jones and Brandon Jones from Eric Jones Karting, Arrow Race Team USA, competing. “We were very confident in their ability to lead the field; however Eric was so sick during qualifying that he spent the morning in the local hospital before coming back and racing from 68th in the first heat. Some amazing heat races put Eric in second for the prefinal but it was just too much for anyone to get through and was not meant to be” McCall said.
Speed in all classes really legitimizes the growth Arrow has seen in the last couple of years. To go from a few Arrow Karts at the last couple of National Events to be the third most represented manufacturer at this event with 33 Arrow Racers was exciting for us. Although only a few racers are mentioned here BTK Motorsports is proud of the racing performance of the all of the Arrow Racers that participated in Denver.
