Por lo que queda del día solo queda una especial pequeña de 4km donde se va a realizar la power stage el sábado y eso sería todo por hoy aunque aun quedan autos en el TC1 corriendo hay que acordarse que son 162 inscritos en este rally !!

No los Polos todavía no, están en desarrollo apenas, Vw está pero con Skoda para ir como "entrenando" y cogiendo experiencia

Comunicado de Prensa de Mini

Day One.

Jyväskylä, 28th July, 2011. With day one of the Neste Oil Rally Finland completed the MINI WRC Team is just where it wanted to be with its two cars still running and no problems to report. This evening Dani Sordo (ES) and Carlos de Barrio (ES) returned to service in Jyväskylä, after 39.74 kilometres of competitive running on three stages, sixth overall in the number 37 MINI John Cooper Works WRC, while Kris Meeke (GB) and Paul Nagle (IR) were ninth in number 52.

From the first stage it was a matter of taking it easy on one of the World Rally Championship’s toughest and most unforgiving events. Sordo has competed in the event for the past few years, but Meeke has not been here for five years and never in a WRC car. The weather was hot and humid as this is the driest summer in Finland for 23 years, but rain is forecast overnight. This doesn’t worry either driver as it can act as a leveller on such specialist events.

Tomorrow from 08.00 the cars head south to compete on totally new stages in the area of Lahti. There will be another eight stages over 134.06 kilometres, and also a remote service before the cars head back to central Finland for the overnight halt just after 21.00.

Dave Wilcock, Technical Director:
“It is all going according to plan, with both cars functioning okay. Both drivers have done exactly what they were told to do, but I think they are both feeling the nerves as it is 12 weeks since we did Sardinia, so they are bound to be a bit rusty. It is quite useful having three stages and then a night to sleep on it. Both crews will benefit from it. Dani is really happy where he is and with the car. He is completely comfortable in all areas. We want to keep up with the others as there will be another game played tomorrow, and it will be nice to be in the hunt. Kris is doing exactly what he set out to do. He really needs to finish and get experience of all these stages. Looking at the tyre wear between all the other cars, we are as good, if not better than, the rest so with the longer loops tomorrow this could play into our hands a little bit. All the stages tomorrow are very loose and the guys are all doing them for the first time, so that will be a bit of a leveller. Let’s get to Lahti at lunch time tomorrow and go from there.”

Dani Sordo:
“It was good today and I am really happy with these first three stages. The balance of the car was really good. It is really nice to drive these stages in the MINI, because it was very easy. We will see what happens tomorrow as we have some new stages. We had a very small problem with a communication between me and Carlos on the first stage, but that was not a problem at all.”

Kris Meeke:
“My competitive spirit is a little bit dispirited as you have to take a step back on this rally to learn it. It was really fun to drive, we have a good rhythm and the car has a really nice balance which gives me confidence when driving. There were some places in the stages where I felt I could have driven quicker, but this is how we have to take this rally to learn for the future. It is just one of those rallies where you need experience, and you just can’t take chances.”

Benito Guerra tuvo problemas con un amortiguador y se salio en una curva y se pego contra unos arboles pero sin problemas mecánicos solo de carrocería y pudo continuar...

En el TC3 Fuchs también tuvo un despiste y estaban tratando de hacer una reparaciones !!

Comienzo cauto para Oliveira en su debut finlandés
Daniel Oliveira y el Brazil WRT irrumpieron por primera vez en una de las pruebas más famosas dentro del Campeonato Mundial de Rally: el Rally de Finlandia, octava fecha del WRC.

Luego de las tres primeras especiales de apertura, que se disputaron en una apacible aunque multitudinaria tarde, con miles de fanáticos deseosos de ver buena acción, el joven piloto brasileño situó su MINI John Cooper Works WRC en una segura 38ª posición de cara al verdadero desafio que tendrá mañana.

Considerando que esta es su primera vez compitiendo en Finlandia, Daniel, junto con su navegante Carlos Magalhaes, tuvieron un arranque cauto con este exigente evento con el propósito de empezar a tomarle el pulso a los típicos caminos bordeados de árboles.

Además, esta primera jornada resultó positiva para que Daniel pudiera medir su velocidad con los pilotos locales que están acostumbrados a manejar por los saltos y crestas ciegas típicas de Finlandia, tan difíciles de sortear tal como ya comprobó Oliveira hace algunos días atrás cuando trabajó con el experimentado piloto finés Pasi Hagstrom.

La palabra de Daniel. "Por la mañana, antes del Shakedown, tuvimos un pequeño problema técnico que fue rápidamente solucionado por el equipo, tal como se vio luego en la última pasada. Ya por la tarde, en los tramos de carrera, el objetivo fue completar toda la etapa y practicar lo que aprendimos con Pasi Hagstrom. Sin embargo, tuvimos un pequeño susto en la primera especial, lo que nos recordó que tenemos que tomar las cosas con calma. Fuimos prudentes en las secciones bien rápidas evitando salirnos de la ruta. Fue una jornada positiva, cubrimos todos los kilómetros, y ganamos mucha experiencia".

Todo en uno. Fue un día largo, ocupado y extenuante para todos los pilotos, puesto que la acción comenzó temprano con el Shakedown, que fue seguido de la largada ceremonial y de las tres especiales.

La segunda etapa. En el segundo día se disputarán ocho pruebas especiales que totalizan 134,6 kilómetros competitivos. Los sectores están desparramos al sur de la ciudad base Jyvaskyla. Mañana los pilotos estarán afrontando dos tests de más de 20 kilómetros, incluyendo el tramo más extenso de la carrera, la especial de Hyväneula (29,9km). También habrá una asistencia remota situada en Lahti.

Espiando la punta. El francés Sebastien Loeb (Citroen) está liderando el rally con 2,8s. de ventaja sobre su compañero de equipo y connacional Sebastien Ogier (Citroen). La acción se reanudará mañana a las 9:00 (hora local) siendo el auto de Loeb el primero en la ruta.

UN DIA CONSERVADOR PARA BENITO GUERRA JR. EN FINLANDIA

Benito Guerra Jr. terminó el primer día de carrera en el Rally de Finlandia colocado en el décimo sitio del PWRC.
- En compañía de Borja Rozada, su navegante, recorrió las tres etapas iniciales de manera conservadora pues cuidar el auto es la clave en este rally de tanta complejidad y duración.
- Casi para terminar la jornada de actividades, en uno de los saltos, perdió el control del auto y se estrelló contra un árbol. Salvo algunos daños a su unidad, el incidente resultó sin consecuencia alguna.
- Mañana se correrá la jornada más larga y extenuante de la carrera con ocho etapas de velocidad. El trayecto total será de 671.720 kilómetros divididos en 134.600 de cronometradas en tierra y 537.120 de tránsito.

Benito Guerra Jr. y su navegante español Borja Rozada concluyeron el primer día de actividades del Rally de Finlandia colocados en la décima posición de la categoría de Producción (PWRC) y en la cuarenta y cinco de la general (WRC) luego de un muy conservador inicio de actividades. El tiempo total acumulado de la dupla mexico-española terminó en 22’49.1”, mientras que los ocupantes del noveno casillero pararon los cronómetros en 22’37.3”, es decir, sólo 23.1” por delante de Benito Guerra Jr.. El finlandés Jarkko Nikara y su navegante Petri Nikaraneo fueron quienes se quedaron con la primera posición de la jornada en el PWRC al concluir con un registro de 21’31.2” y con ello situarse en el vigésimo segundo lugar general del WRC.

La ciudad de Jyväskylä fue el escenario del arranque del Rally de Finlandia. Como es costumbre, al ser el rally de más tradición en toda la temporada, los mejores corredores del mundo se dieron cita en el evento aún y a pesar de que no sigan el WRC o el PWRC a lo largo del año. Un total de 160 inscritos cruzaron por el arco de salida para, algunos metros después, justo en las montañas que rodean a la entidad nórdica iniciar la primer etapa (Lankamaa) de velocidad que dio inicio de manera oficial a las actividades de la octava fecha del Campeonato Mundial de Rallies (WRC) y la cuarta del Campeonato Mundial de Rallies en su categoría de Producción (PWRC).

En dicha sección cronometrada fue donde el representante de la Escudería Sport City, Seman Baker, Michelin, Interproteccion, Televisa Deportes tomó la decisión de iniciar de manera conservadora el rally para ir tomando el ritmo de la competencia misma conforme transcurran las acciones. En toda su carrera deportiva, Benito Guerra Jr. no se había enfrentado a un rally tan rápido como lo es el de Finlandia y ello implica tomar ciertas precauciones en un inicio.

Ya en el segundo tramo, con un claro entendimiento entre piloto y copiloto, los tripulantes del Mitsubishi EVO X comenzaron a tomar más rapidez en los tramos y a reducir sus tiempos parciales de recorrido. De hecho, fue tal la velocidad que alcanzaron que en la tercera y última etapa de la jornada al caer de un salto perdieron un tanto el control del vehículo y se estrellaron en contra de un árbol sin consecuencia mayor más que un amortiguador roto. Así, dañados en su unidad, fue como concluyeron las acciones y se enfilaron al servicio para reparar el auto y arrancar el día de mañana en óptimas condiciones.

“Tengo dos emociones en este momento. La primera de ellas es una gran sorpresa por lo rápido del rally. Yo sabía de antemano que era una competencia muy veloz pero nunca imagine que tanto. En verdad que es sorprendente el hecho de ir a 170 kilómetros por hora en un camino de tierra. Nunca había manejado tan rápido en toda mi vida en una cronometrada sin asfalto.

“La segunda emoción es que estoy muy contento con lo que hemos logrado hasta el momento. Puede que un décimo lugar en la general del PWRC no parezca espectacular pero la verdad es que en el Rally de Finlandia es muy satisfactorio. De los nueve competidores que me anteceden cinco de ellos son finlandeses y los otros cuatro son rallistas mundiales con por lo menos tres o cuatro años de experiencia en la categoría y en esta carrera en específico. Así es que no está mal el lugar en donde nos encontramos y aún falta bastante rally por recorrer.

“Mañana viernes es un día clave. La jornada es muy larga y se espera que muchos de los autos abandonen. Nosotros saldremos con todo a subir posiciones y a conservar el auto. De la constancia que logremos en las primeras secciones de la jornada dependerá en qué lugar terminemos. Lo que es un hecho, es que pelearemos como nunca para corresponder el cariño que toda la afición nos ha mostrado tanto aquí en Finlandia como en todo el mundo a través de las redes sociales”, concluyó Benito Guerra Jr..

Para mañana, viernes 29 de julio, segundo día de actividades del Rally de Finlandia, los representantes de la Escudería Sport City, Seman Baker, Michelin, Interproteccion, Televisa Deportes y demás equipos participantes tendrán la jornada más dura de toda la carrera pues se correrán ocho extenuantes etapas de velocidad por demás rápidas y con una gran cantidad de saltos. Será un día de mucho cuidar el auto para la mayoría de los equipos y se pronostica que habrá varios abandonos. La distancia total a cubrir será de 671.720 kilómetros divididos en 134.600 de cronometradas en tierra y 537.120 de tránsito. Las ocho etapas de velocidad a cubrir son las siguientes: Hassi (20.35 kilómetros), Evo (8.90 kilómetros), Hyväneula 1 (29.90 kilómetros), Koukunmaa (13.68 kilómetros), Koivukehä (17.80 kilómetros), Hyväneula 2 (29.90 kilómetros), Jokimaa (2.00 kilómetros), Mynnilä (12.07 kilómetros).
