Al igual que el original, el nuevo Mach 1 cierra la brecha entre los modelos Mustang GT y Shelby®, brindando potencia V-8, mejoras aerodinámicas funcionales únicas, actualizaciones de suspensión aptas para la competencia y una cabina con comodidades máximas para el conductor.
«El nuevo Mustang Mach 1 está listo para ser el modelo más capaz en cuanto a velocidad gracias al nuevo diseño de la parte delantera y a la combinación del “performance” del Shelby GT350 y el GT500. Desde Automotriz y Grupo Purdy sabemos que esta noticia es muy emocionante para los fanáticos de los motores y la marca” indicó Weimar Rodríguez, Gerente de Ventas de Ford en Costa Rica.
El nuevo diseño exterior incluye una nueva delantera y rejillas para mejorar la ventilación y aerodinámica del vehículo y, además, presenta rayas laterales con superficies reflectantes que celebran la herencia Mach 1 que data de más de cinco décadas.
Incluye un motor V8 de 5.0 litros especialmente calibrado capaz de otorgar 480 caballos de fuerza e integra además varios de los componentes del Shelby GT350: el adaptador del filtro de aceite y el enfriador de aceite del motor; lo que aumenta la capacidad de enfriamiento del aceite del motor en un 50 por ciento.
“Desde el 2005, cuando Automotriz adquirió Ford, sabíamos que la marca retaba a toda la industria por tener modelos icónicos en constante evolución y justamente esta versión se fundamenta en décadas de aprendizajes. Mach 1 brinda la opción de poseer la transmisión manual Tremec de un Shelby y el embrague de doble disco y formato de cambios cortos del Mustang GT; o bien, la transmisión automática SelectShift de 10 velocidades, pensando únicamente en la comodidad del conductor” añadió Rodríguez.
Recapturando el estilo Mach 1. La nueva parrilla Mach 1 se remonta al original con una malla tridimensional profunda y una sección de nariz de tiburón icónica. Las nuevas llantas de aluminio pintadas de 19 x 9.5 pulgadas son una versión moderna de las ruedas clásicas de estilo Magnum 500.
Las rayas laterales y de capucha de color negro satinado se incluyen con rayas reflectantes en cualquiera de los tres colores: rojo, blanco y naranja. Las opciones de color exterior incluyen el exclusivo Fighter Jet Grey de Mach 1 (solo paquete de apariencia), así como también Iconic Silver, Shadow Black, Oxford White, Velocity Blue, Twister Orange, Race Red y Grabber Yellow.
El interior presenta un exclusivo panel de instrumentos Dark Spindrift con detalles en aluminio. Los asientos negros con una franja decorativa insinúan el patrimonio Mach 1 en los automóviles equipados con un interior de cuero.
Otras actualizaciones interiores incluyen nuevas placas de umbral de la puerta, una pantalla de bienvenida actualizada en el grupo de instrumentos de LCD de 12.3 pulgadas, una palanca de cambios de mayor deportividad y una placa grabada que muestra el número de chasis único del vehículo.
Rendimiento y comodidad. Mach 1 presenta un 22 por ciento más de carga aerodinámica que un Mustang GT con Performance Pack Level 1 y mejora aproximadamente un 150 por ciento con el paquete de manejo.
Una nueva bandeja inferior, la actualización más importante aerodinámicamente del vehículo, se extiende 20 pulgadas más hacia atrás que en un Mustang GT Performance Pack, lo que permite suavizar y aumentar el flujo de aire debajo de la parte delantera del vehículo.
Por último, para mejorar la conducción y el manejo, el modelo presenta la última calibración en la suspensión MagneRide, un eje I de dirección más rígido, nueva calibración EPAS (dirección asistida electrónicamente), barras estabilizadoras más rígidas, muelles delanteros y un refuerzo de freno del Mustang GT Performance Pack Nivel 2, lo que lo hace un vehículo sumamente completo.
