Allen no crea mae, ya van 3 años seguidos que RBR anda en este matarile, que las alas parecen un papelote con el carro en movimiento pero siempre pasan las pruebas de la FIA. Cómo lo logran nadie lo sabe: ni los otros equipos porque entonces harían lo mismo, ni los comisarios porque entonces lo prohibirían. Es cuestión de tiempo para que caiga por su propio peso... mientras no los pesquen lo han usado! La regla es clara que las alas y soportes tienen que ser rígidas, y que para tal efecto se hacen pruebas de carga estático con deflexiones máximas. Con esto de las alas RBR siempre ha logrado pasar la prueba, aunque claramente sus alas y soportes no son rígidos. O sea, saben ir sobre el filo de la navaja... pero el que me diga que esas alas no se mueven es más engañado que yo.

pmontero efectivamente tenés toda la razón, lo de spoiler es tema de debate ya hace ratillo! La cosa es que solo pueden medirlo estando estático el vehículo, por eso se ha salvado RedBull! Yo veo que a nivel horizontal no hay movimiento, el ala se conserva en ese sentido, sin embargo si hace un efecto de rotación en su propio eje, que indudablemente ayuda a la carga de viento proporcional a la velocidad que el F1 se desplaza!

Como bien vos lo apuntas por el momento se han salvado, tienen que hacer ajustes en la regulación para evitar vacíos en la interpretación del reglamento y evitar estas cosas! El spoiler de inicios del 2011 todavía era mas polémico, porque si se podía ver a simple vista como toda el ala flexionaba casi a nivel de suelo, inclusive pegaba en los pianos en chicanas o curvas!

Dejando de lado los carros tramposos con alas flexibles... Lotus planea usar unas versión actualizada de susescapes tipo Coanda para este GP, que además de ganancia aerodinámica estiman les ayudará a ganar 6 HP. Además, van a usar un alerón delantero de especificación nueva.


Lotus aims to race updated Coanda exhaust in US

Following the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi, Lotus is confident its upgraded Coanda exhaust will be ready to race at the US Grand Prix next weekend.

Lotus introduced a Coanda exhaust system in Korea to try to maximise the performance of the diffuser and boost downforce. Similar systems are run by all the top teams but can sacrifice engine power in return for the extra downforce. At the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lotus trialled an updated version of the exhaust minimise the power loss, but were not confident enough with it after final practice to run it in the race.

"We are still experimenting with the latest evolution of our Coanda system," technical director James Allison said. "This delivers the same downforce as the one we introduced in Korea and used in the Abu Dhabi race, but does not sap as much power from the engine. We trialled this evolution in Abu Dhabi, but opted to go for the known quantity of the Korea-spec. Now we have the Young Driver Test behind us, we are confident that this evolution will assist with around an extra six horsepower for the last two races of the season. We also have a little aero upgrade to the front wing too."

Even without the upgrade, Kimi Raikkonen went on to win the race in Abu Dhabi, but Allison said the car had been showing strong performance figures since Korea.

"Since we upgraded the car with the Coanda exhaust system in Korea, the E20's actually been pretty decent. It maybe hasn't looked that way in Korea and India as we were trapped behind other people, but the pace of the car in the races has been strong. In Abu Dhabi, Kimi was making very confident sounding noises before the race as he was happy with the car. What we needed was an adequate result from qualifying to give us half a chance, and then a good start.

"We got both of those; Kimi did a cracking lap in qualifying, there was a bit of good fortune with Sebastian [Vettel] going to the back of the grid, then a bit more good fortune by Webber having a poor start. It was the first race for a long time where we could run the car in free air near the front of the grid and - hey presto - we won the race."

Allison is hoping the car will again be competitive at the Circuit of the Americas next weekend.

"It's a similar overall downforce level used on the car, but it's a very different circuit from the Yas Marina," he said. "There is a much wider range of corner types. Austin has a series of flowing fast corners which doesn't exist in Abu Dhabi, then there are some slow chicanes which do. The diversity of corners means that it's a much sterner overall test of the car. However, if we look at other tracks that test the car in this comprehensive manner, we've been pretty good."

De hecho yo acabo de leer lo mismo... pero saber quién va a querer comprarlo, he ahí el dilema.

Y bueno, evitando hablar de los equipos con alas delanteras hechas de hule ( a las cuales Oscar no quiso referirse ) mientras tanto les comento, Pirelli va a proveer las llantas medias y duras para esta carrera, una elección un tanto conservadora y que según explican ellos está basada en las muestras de asfalto que ellos tomaron así como los trabajos en simulador.

Además, y para que los equipos tengan más chance de estudiar las características de la pista y uso de las llantas, Pirelli proveerá un juego adicional de llantas duras para las prácticas del viernes, cosa que sin duda los equipos agradecerán.

With a new circuit to learn, the teams will get an extra set of hard tyres for FP1 and FP2. Pirelli has confirmed it will supply the teams with an extra set of hard compound tyres for Friday practice ahead of the United States Grand Prix.

This weekend's race is the first to be held at the new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, and comes at a crucial time in the championship with Sebastian Vettel able to take the title in America. With neither the teams nor Pirelli having run on the circuit before, an extra set of hard tyres has been allocated to help them to learn the track.

Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery says the race "will be the biggest challenge for us of the year" but thinks the conservative choice of hard and medium tyres won't necessarily meant a boring race.

"Austin is one of just three new tracks for us in Formula One competition this year, alongside Bahrain - which we've tested at previously - and Hockenheim, where we previously raced in GP3," Hembery said. "So in many ways America will be the biggest challenge for us of the year, but stepping into the unknown is a situation that we are used to: last season the majority of tracks were completely new to us. We've chosen the hard and the medium compounds as we think it will be quite a demanding track, based on the asphalt samples and simulation data we have gathered.

"Naturally we've leaned towards a slightly more conservative choice in order to cover every possibility at a brand new circuit, but the tyre choice in Abu Dhabi was also conservative and yet we saw one of the most exciting races of the year. We're all absolutely delighted to be returning to America with Formula One: it's a crucial market for us as well as being the home of many of the most enthusiastic fans out there. We've felt a huge buzz about this race, and with the championship so finely poised it couldn't come at a better time."
