Eric Boullier del equipo Lotus: "Yes, it is going to be a freaky one! Qualifying in Melbourne and the first races are going to be unpredictable...The tyres are going to make things very interesting. If you push too hard in qualifying then you are going to be screwed for the first part of the race – and if you pit too early it may mean you need to make an extra stop." - Via Autosport

Jenson Button: "It’s been a very good day even though I couldn’t complete the race. I am ecstatic about the fact that I started 21st and got up to the sixth position. My start wasn’t the best in the world, but some people had worse, so it wasn’t so bad. The first lap was very hectic and I tried to stay out of trouble. It’s was a nice steady race, I made a little mistake on the fifth lap, I think, but apart from that it was neat and tidy, certainly a good start to my carreer in Formula One. Of course I wished it had last 20 more laps! Anyway, today I think that I have shown that I can do the job."
Jenson Button: "It's a fantastic feeling to be on pole here after such a manic qualifying session for everybody. With two red flags and the rain shower half way through, it was very difficult to stay calm and get our thoughts together. That's exactly what we did though and I'm so thrilled for the team. This is a very special moment for everyone in Honda as it's the first pole since they returned to works team status. I know all eyes will be on us for tomorrow but we didn't get much running done in race trim today. We know we're quick over a lap but we will only know how competitive we really are when we leave the grid tomorrow. All we can do now is give it our very best shot, aim for a faultless race and make the most of every situation."
Jenson Button: "It's disappointing to end the weekend as we did today after starting the race in pole position. The way the race panned out with the three safety cars left me struggling for grip after each restart and I lost so much time and so many places. I could feel that something was wrong with the engine in turn 13 and it was a difficult way to end the race after such a long hard battle. The car is strong when we have tyre temperature, but when we don't we have massive grip problems. We have two weeks of testing before Imola and hopefully we can solve these problems."
"What an amazing day! This is just a fairytale ending to the first race of our career together at Brawn GP. It may have looked like an easy victory but it really wasn't easy at all out there today but we brought the car home and that's all that matters. This win is for me, my family and my team. It's been a traumatic few months and I want to say a massive thank you to them all for being so strong and never losing belief. This weekend we have achieved everything that we deserve for all of our hard work over the past few months. And what's so exciting is that there is so much more to come from myself and from this team. I can't wait to get to Malaysia!"
Jenson Button: "What a fantastic weekend! From the first lap here, I felt comfortable in the car. Qualifying was good – we weren't on the pace of the front guys, we were five or six tenths off – but our race pace was better. And in these tricky conditions, I think we made some very good calls and we came away with a victory. You might say we were lucky in some ways, but I think we just made the right calls – and that's so important nowadays. It's not just about speed, it's about making the right calls, being consistent and conserving the car.
It was a necessary move to pit for slicks. I was struggling for grip on the Inters, and the rears were destroying themselves very quickly, so we figured it must be time for dries. As I drove down the pitlane, I could see it was soaking wet and I feared it was a massive mistake on my part. When I left the pits, I went off the circuit and just thought, 'Oh no!'. But I got to grips with it pretty quickly, and soon started to feel really good in the car. I caught up behind Sebastian [Vettel], I conserved the tyres, I built a useful gap and I want to say a massive thank-you to the whole Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team: they've done a brilliant job.
To not only be on the podium, but to be on the top step, after just two races, is amazing. It's crucial to get the big points when perhaps we don't have the out-and-out pace: these are really important points to us. Now we've really got to get our heads down and hopefully turn up in Malaysia next week with an even better car. This victory means so much to me. A Grand Prix win in a McLaren. Sounds good, doesn't it? Right now, I just want to run around and scream. It's just the most amazing experience."
