Fichajes y rumores de Pilotos de F1 2013

Si yo fuera Hamilton, pensando a largo plazo me iría por Mercedes (confiando en que las cosas den un giro positivo para el equipo en cuanto a resultados), para 2014 será uno de los equipos fuertes al igual que Ferrari, McLaren por su parte pasará a ser un equipo cliente 100% y por lo tanto no podrá darse muchos lujos como si lo podrían hacer los dos anteriores. Pero pensando a corto plazo me iría por McLaren especialmente si quiero tener la oportunidad de ganar mi segundo título y ganar carreras en lo que resta de esta temporada y la próxima aprovechando que el reglamento no recibirá cambios importantes como si lo hará en 2014.

Hoy en AUTOSPORT Plus Tony Dodgins escribió algo relacionado a lo que comente hace unos días sobre el tema...

"... If you're Mercedes, you may be telling him that come 2014 it's going to be crucial to be driving for a works-engine team because the pace of V6 turbo development, initially at least, is going to be so fast that it's not going to be possible to give customer squads the same specification.... "

De hecho según The Guardian, Mr E comentó este lunes que Hamilton tenia todas las intenciones de marcharse a Mercedes sin importar lo que fuera pero parece que McLaren le ha hecho una última oferta de unos 2 millones más que parecen haberle gustado y posiblemente se quede con los de Woking, incluso dándolo a conocer durante la semana.

"The deal to secure Hamilton is still not complete and, according to the Formula One commercial rights holder, Bernie Ecclestone, Hamilton had at one point decided to join Mercedes.

Ecclestone said on Monday: "I don't think Hamilton knows what he will do. These last couple or three races he has been doing very well. Before that, why he was upset I don't know but he was definitely going to move no matter what. He had made up his mind that he was going. Whether he has changed now I don't know."

El equipo Mercedes AMG Petronas por su parte estaría próximo a firmar en Pacto de Concordia segun algunos rumores en el paddock este fin de semana...

Si Button está de lo más contento en McLaren, eso por no mencionar que en octubre del 2011 un contrato multianual (se supone que 4 años hasta el 2014):

Así que no creo que vaya para ningún lado, más bien recientemente ha dado declaraciones halagando a McLaren, que hasta podrían parecer ayuda al equipo para convencer a Lewis que no se lleve sus tiliches para otro lado.

Lo que dice Ross Brawn:
Mucho se ha especulado sobre la posible marcha de Lewis Hamilton a Mercedes, pero hasta ahora ningún responsable de la escudería alemana había admitido que fuera una opción real. Ross Brawn, director del equipo, ha intentado esquivar la cuestión, pero se le ha escapado que el interés de Mercedes por fichar a Hamilton no es ciencia ficción. Además, lo ha dicho en la BBC para que la dirección de McLaren tome buena nota:

“Hamilton es un gran piloto, muy, muy buen piloto. Creo que cualquier equipo ambicioso quiere tener a los mejores pilotos y nosotros somos un equipo ambicioso”

Y Brawn también ha reconocido que la posible llegada de Hamilton a Mercedes provocaría el despido de Michael Schumacher, ya que Lewis se convertiría en el nuevo compañero de Nico Rosberg:

“Obviamente, Michael está muy involucrado en todo esto que estamos discutiendo. La decisión de si Michael se queda o se marcha es muy difícil porque ha sido un gran activo del equipo, que nos ha ayudado y que ha aportado muchísimo”

No sé a vosotros, pero, tras escuchar a Brawn, a mí me parece que en Mercedes están esperando a Hamilton con los brazos abiertos. Y más después de ver las últimas actuaciones del káiser, que se está convirtiendo en el rey de los abandonos.

De todas formas, creo que al final en McLaren acabarán cediendo a las presiones de Hamilton y le subirán el sueldo. Y más viendo que en Mercedes van en serio.

PD. Ayer la prensa británica ya publicó que McLaren le ha aumentado su oferta a Hamilton en dos millones por temporada. Parece que Lewis se acabará llenando los bolsillos con toda esta polémica.

Lewis Hamilton to join Mercedes in $100m move from McLaren
Lewis Hamilton will on Friday bring to an end one of the most controversial and long-running transfer sagas in Formula One history by announcing that he is leaving McLaren, the team he has been with over half his life, for rivals Mercedes in a three-year deal which could be worth as much as $100million (£61.6million).

The announcement is almost certain to end the career of the most successful driver in F1, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, whose return three years ago to the sport he once bestrode like a colossus palpably failed to live up to expectations.

It is not yet clear whether Schumacher will be offered some sort of ambassadorial or management role with the Brackley team.

The Daily Telegraph understands that Mercedes are waiting for their board in Stuttgart to sign off on the new Concorde Agreement, the commercial pact which binds the teams to the sport, before making an official announcement regarding Hamilton. That announcement should arrive today.

Right up until the end the move was kept shrouded in secrecy. McLaren are only understood to have been informed of Hamilton’s decision yesterday, and may hold a press conference of their own this morning, at which they will announce their next move.

There is no doubt, though, that Hamilton’s rejection, particularly after McLaren returned more than once in recent weeks with improved deals, reportedly matching Mercedes’ offer, will come as a bitter blow to the team who nurtured the 27 year-old from young karter to F1 world champion.

Hamilton famously walked up to McLaren’s then team principal, Ron Dennis, at the Autosport Awards ceremony as a 10 year-old in 1995 and said: “I want to race for you one day.” Less than three years later he was signed by the Woking team, who put him through the British Formula Renault, Formula Three Euroseries, and GP2 championships on his way up the motor racing ladder.

Hamilton’s decision to move to pastures new will no doubt be seen by some within the team as a betrayal. The McLaren principal, Martin Whitmarsh, who had always said he was confident of hanging on to Hamilton, and who claimed in Monza three weeks ago that there was “no plan B” in the event that the 2008 world champion left the team, seemed more confident than ever in Singapore last weekend.

Hamilton, too, reacted to his retirement from the lead in that race with maturity, praising his team for producing a car which has taken pole at the last four races, winning three of them.

In truth, it must have been a final act of kindness from a driver who had already made up his mind to gamble on a fresh start.

The regular controversies which have punctuated their relationship in recent seasons, the tension which was increasingly palpable, makes the move understandable.

Mercedes may have won just one race in 50 since returning as a full works team in 2010, but they have huge financial resources at their disposal, a much larger brand and a team principal in Ross Brawn who has delivered over half the world championships on offer this century.

The car’s competitiveness is an issue but Hamilton has clearly gambled on the capitalising on new engine regulations in 2014, when a 1.6-litre V6 turbo will be introduced. Mercedes, as one of the sport’s manufacturer teams, are expected to throw everything at that season.

Brawn yesterday said there was no reason that the team could not be competitive in 2013, arguing that the recruitment of a glut of experienced F1 engineers over the last 12-18 months would begin to show in 2013.

“I think we can [be competitive],” he said. “Next year is very important and it has got to be another strong progression. We have been a patchy this year. We have won a race but we have not been consistent enough. “The changes we have made at in the last two years will be measured in 2013. Geoff Willis, Aldo Costa, Mike Elliott, our new head of aero. I’m very excited about Mike. He’s a really strong guy. That has to show through in 2013 and I am pretty optimistic and confident that it will.”

Hamilton, whose move is certain electrify the paddock and is likely to kick-start a merry-go-round as far as race seats for next season are concerned, will go into the team as a clear No1, racing alongside his old karting team-mate and friend Nico Rosberg.

The move raises all sorts of questions; from how much influence XIX Entertainment, Simon Fuller’s management company, had over the decision — XIX are expected to be able to make more money out of Hamilton’s contract at Mercedes, who will grant them greater freedom to exploit his image rights – to who McLaren will get to line up alongside Jenson Button next year.

For the moment, though, F1 will just soak up one of the most sensational transfer stories in recent history.

Ross Brawn tiene el característica de tomar un equipo y hacerlo campeón, a su haber ha hecho campeones a Benneton, Brawn GP e hizo un Ferrari invencible durante varias temporadas, así que no me extraña que Hamilton perfilara su futuro bajo ese panorama

Según entiendo Vodafone podría terminar su relación con McLaren al final de esta temporada y dejar el camino libre a Telmex, incluso se habla de que Telmex podría seguir apoyando a Sauber (porque si a los suizos se les va esta harina están feos) y esto supone la llegada de como bien dices Esteban Gutierrez. Igual no descarto a Jaime Alguersuari como compañero de Gutierrez en Suaber porque parece que tiene buen apoyo el español. El que quedaría feo sería Kamui Kobayashi pero en fin, esperemos a ver que se dice mañana.

Ahora solo faltan Schumacher en Ferrari y Massa en Sauber, jajaja. O mejr aún, Schumacher compra Sauber y Massa se queda en Ferrari y se goza a Hamilton en el Mercedes en el 2013.

Hamilton a Mercedes, Checo a McLaren

Golpe de efecto en la F1 que cobra nuevos alicientes para la próxima temporada.
A veces lo que parece imposible se hace realidad, Lewis Hamilton se marcha de McLaren y correrá en Mercedes y Checo Pérez será piloto de McLaren. Así que el chico que creció a la sombra de Ron Dennis desde pequeño, el que provocó la salida de Fernando Alonso de la escudería británica en aquel 2007 recordado por todos ya no volverá a competir con el equipo de Woking. Su destino es Mercedes donde sustituirá a Michael Schumacher, que podría vivir su adiós definitivo a la Fórmula 1.

Hacía varios grandes premios que Sergio Pérez estaba negociando con McLaren, pero todo dependía de lo que hiciera Hamilton y finalmente el británico no ha llegado a un acuerdo con su escudería, las razones se fundamentan en dos, la primera que no le han dado el dinero que pedía por temporada, la segunda que no le permitían hacer el tipo de vida que él quiere dentro de su personaje, es decir derechos de imagen etc... Así las cosas en los últimos días se han acelerado las negociaciones y Pérez ficha por el equipo rival del que parecía ser su destino.

Y es que muchos apuntaban a Ferrari como la opción para Checo, pero finalmente en el equipo rojo no se han decidido a apostar por el mejicano por su falta de experiencia, según palabras de Montezemolo y se va al máximo rival. Y lo hace sin Carlos Slim, en principio, aunque existe la opción de que Vodafone deje McLaren y en ese caso sí podrían entrar, Telmex no viaja con Checo a este nuevo proyecto.

No han trascendido declaraciones de Hamilton, pero Pérez está feliz con la noticia. Se encuentra en su país y desde allí ha afirmado sentirse "muy emocionado y encantado de ser piloto de McLaren, uno de los grandes de la historia de la Fórmula 1". Mientras, el jefe de McLaren, Martin Whitmarsh, añadió por su parte estar "muy feliz de unir a Jenson y Pérez. Sergio aún está desarrollando sus habilidades y estamos convencidos de que tiene talento y no solo es rápido, sino que tiene buena disposición y ganas de aprender".

Ahora quedan otros interrogantes que parece se irán despejando, ¿tendrá sitio Alguersuari en Sauber o Force India? ¿Schumacher se quedará con jefe de equipo de Mercedes? ¿Continuará Felipe Massa en Ferrari? Veremos...

McLaren have confirmed that Lewis Hamilton is leaving the team at the end of this season and will be replaced by Sergio Perez.

As to be expected the Woking team announced on Friday morning that Hamilton, who has been associated with McLaren since he was a 13-year-old karter, is on his way out. The team, though, did not revealed where he is going next.

Hamilton's seat at the Woking outfit will be filled by rising star Perez, who has impressed many this season with his three podium results for Sauber.

"I'm thrilled and delighted to have become a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver," said the 22-year-old.

"The McLaren name is one of the greatest in the history of Formula 1. For more than 40 years McLaren has been a team that every racing driver has aspired to drive for - I was brought up on the great stories of Ayrton Senna's many world championship triumphs for McLaren - and I'm truly honoured that they've chosen me to partner Jenson from 2013 onwards.

"I've spent the 2012 season working very hard to demonstrate my potential, but I've always remained humble and focused. I am, and always will be, extremely grateful to Peter [Sauber] and everybody at the Sauber Formula 1 team for their belief in me, and for giving me the chance to race in Formula 1.

"In fact, they gave me the perfect opportunity to demonstrate what I can do - and I'm now equally grateful to Martin [Whitmarsh] and everyone at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes for giving me the chance to take this next very big step in my career.

"I'm under no illusion that it is indeed a very big step - as it would be for any driver - but I'm ready for it. So, while I'm still fully focused on doing my best for Sauber for the remainder of this season, I'm already massively looking forward to working with everyone at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, and with Jenson, who's someone I've long admired as a brilliant driver and a great Champion."

McLaren has welcomed Perez to the fold with team boss Martin Whitmarsh adamant that in the Mexican driver he has signed a future World Champion.

"On behalf of everyone at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, I'm delighted to welcome Sergio on board. His performances throughout 2012 have convinced us that he's an extremely exciting prospect for the future," he said.

"It was a string of giant-killing performances, a trio of podiums and a brilliant fastest lap in this year's Monaco Grand Prix that showed us that Sergio lacks nothing in terms of speed and commitment.

"We've been monitoring his progress carefully for some months - and, now that he's become part of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team, our task will be to refine and develop his abilities as his career progresses over the coming years.

"Uniting Sergio alongside Jenson will give us a very broad base of driver ability. Jenson is one of motorsport's greatest ambassadors, and his unique blend of prodigious speed and canny race-craft makes him formidably well-armed to fight for victory on any grand prix circuit in the world.

Lewis Hamilton will race for Mercedes next season, replacing Michael Schumacher in what he is billing as a "fresh challenge."

After months of speculation about his future, it was finally announced on Friday that Hamilton has called it quits on his 14-year association with McLaren, signing a long-term deal with rivals Mercedes.

Hamilton has been with McLaren in some part since he was a 13-year-old karter and entered Formula One with the Woking team in 2007, winning the Drivers' Championship the following season.

The Brit's results slumped since with Hamilton fighting for the crown but never quite getting there, prompting him to seek a "fresh challenge" elsewhere.

"It is now time for me to take on a fresh challenge and I am very excited to begin a new chapter racing for the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team," said the 27-year-old.

"Mercedes-Benz has such an incredible heritage in motorsport, along with a passion for winning which I share.

"Together, we can grow and rise to this new challenge. I believe that I can help steer the Silver Arrows to the top and achieve our joint ambitions of winning the World Championships."

Meanwhile, team boss Ross Brawn has hailed the "potential" that now waits Mercedes with Hamilton and Nico Rosberg flying the flag.

"The arrival of a driver of Lewis' calibre is a testament to the standing of Mercedes-Benz in Formula One and I am proud that Lewis shares our vision and ambition for the success of the Silver Arrows," said the Brit.

"I believe that the combination of Lewis and Nico will be the most dynamic and exciting pairing on the grid next year, and I am looking forward to what we can achieve together.

"Over the past three years, we have been putting in place the foundations and building blocks that are needed to compete regularly for the World Championship.

"Behind the scenes, we have assembled a team that is technically stronger, more experienced and better resourced, thanks to the support of Petronas and all of our loyal team partners.

Niki Lauda joins Mercedes F1 team in management role

Niki Lauda is to join Mercedes in a management role as part of a renewed push by the German car manufacturer to win the championship after the arrival of Lewis Hamilton.

With the Mercedes road car company having looked deeply at the structure and resources of its F1 team, and considered its commitment before signing a new Concorde Agreement, the outfit announced on Friday that Lauda is a play a role with the team - as was reported by AUTOSPORT earlier this week.

The three-time world champion recently acted as a go-between in the discussions between Mercedes and Bernie Ecclestone over the Concorde, and speculation about a formal role with the outfit emerged in Singapore last weekend.

A statement by Mercedes said that Lauda will "bring his extensive experience to the role of non-executive chairman of the team's board of directors, further reinforcing the strength in depth at Mercedes AMG Petronas."

Team principal Ross Brawn said that the arrival of Hamilton, allied to a staffing restructure and fresh commitment from the Mercedes board, was a promising sign for the future.

"Over the past three years, we have been putting in place the foundations and building blocks that are needed to compete regularly for the world championship," he said.

"Behind the scenes, we have assembled a team that is technically stronger, more experienced and better resourced, thanks to the support of Petronas and all of our loyal team partners.

"The potential is now there to match any other team on the grid, which is the minimum standard for a Mercedes-Benz works team. Our task is now to translate that potential into on-track performance for next season and beyond."

Lo mejor de todo, hace apenas un par de días salía Ross Brawn de jetón diciendo que lo que se decía de la llegada de LH era "mucha especulación" y Lauda decía que no había hablado "en lo absoluto" sobre una llegada a Mercedes.

Lo único que falta de anuncio oficial es que Mercedes firmó el Acuerdo de Concordia, pero a estas alturas eso es más que obvio. Es más, eso era lo que hacía falta para que se desencadenara todo lo demás, Lewis estaba esperando la luz verde de Daimler en Stuttgart para firmar y hacer pública la vara.
