La FIA hace pocos minutos ha anunciado la creacion de un Campeonato Mundial Endurance en conjunto con la ACO, mas detalles de esto vendran el proximo jueves en la conferencia de prensa de la ACO en Le Mans.

2012 FIA World Endurance Championship

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) are proud to announce that a partnership has been defined to launch the FIA World Endurance Championship starting in 2012.

In establishing this new category of motorsport championship, both the FIA and ACO are keenly aware it needs to be a laboratory for innovation and the development of new technologies, allowing motor manufacturers to express, through the rigours of competition, their ability to be inventive and, as this is an endurance championship, to also highlight their capacity to produce high quality and safe machines and components.

The calendar of the first season in 2012 will mirror the existing Intercontinental Le Mans Cup series of which the 24 Le Mans race will be the highlight.

In order to symbolically seal this historic partnership, Jean Todt, President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, has been asked to start the 79th edition of the 24 Hours Le Mans race at 15.00 on June 11, 2011.

Further details concerning the new championship will be outlined by Mr Todt and Mr Plassart, ACO President, at a press conference to be held at 10.00 on June 9 at the Musée des 24 Heures du Mans.

Jean Todt said: “I am delighted to welcome the return of the FIA Endurance World Championship, especially with a promoter like ACO. I am also very pleased to have a legendary race like the 24 Hours of Le Mans as part of it.”

Jean-Claude Plassart said: "I am very happy we have reached this agreement with the FIA, a partnership which underlines the rightful place that endurance racing has in motorsport, something we have been promoting since we first established the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1923. Jean Todt has accepted my invitation to start this year's 24 Hours race on Saturday June 11, a symbolic and visible way to celebrate our partnership."

Otro equipo que tendra una decoracion muy particular sera el ProSpeed Competition bajo el concepto de iBird que sera un trabajo del artista Loïc Poncelet y sera una interpretacion de la union que existe entre naturaleza y tecnologia, que es escencial en el ambiente automovilistico. El año 1999 marcó el debut de Audi en Le Mans con sus dos prototipos, el R8R del Audi Sport Team Joest y R8C del Audi Sport Team UK y ademas de eso se dio el famoso accidente del Mercedes CLR de Peter Dumbreck. Al final la victoria fue para el equipo BMW con el BMW V12 LMR.

Luis Perez Companc: "I feel great driving a prototype, because unlike a GT it is a car designed specifically for racing, and this is the kind of car I definitely feel most comfortable in. When I was racing at Le Mans in GTs, I had to look in the mirrors so as not to interfere with the prototypes. So this year, I will have a big advantage, as my experience of GTs means I know how to handle the track. While the diesels are much faster than my LMP2, I do not feel the difference apart from on the Mulsanne straight. "

The second team to scrutineering, AF Corse arrives at Le Mans in the best possible mood, after the victory of Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni in LM GTE Pro at the 1000 km ofSpa-Francorchamps, the second round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 2011.

Gianmaria Bruni: "This victory is just the boost we needed before the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But the difference here is that the racewill be four times longer! After all these years with the F430 GT, theFerrari 458 is a bit like our new baby, but a new baby who has already given us some nice rewards! Nürbugring es mas lindo como circuito, pero como evento, no hay endurance que le llegue a Le Mans, que nivel. Y bueno, igual el circuito es un chuzo, a mí personalmente me encanta.

Asi llegaron los 9 pilotos del equipo Peugeot hoy al escrutinio, todos viajaron en bicicleta unos 130kms desde la ciudad de Chartres.

A las 3:10 pm hora de Le Mans, el equipo Peugeot realizó la revisión técnica en forma satisfactoria.
Los pilotos llegaron en bicicleta al escrutinio.
Marc Gené comentó:"Fue algo original y divertido el que llegáramos todos juntos en bicicleta al escrutinio. Físicamente todo estuvo bien y nostros disfrutamos especialmente la atmósfera en el equipo. Este es el mejor compañerismo que he experimentado en un equipo y espero que los resultados reflejen esto."

Adrian Fernandez habla en su blog de la preparacion del equipo Aston Martin en Monza, y ademas bien lo dice el piloto mexicano "Ya estoy en Le Mans para lo que será mi primer carrera del año y no podría estar más emocionado. La historia y atmósfera que se vive es magia, es uno de mis eventos favoritos sin dudarlo." El ambiente en Le Mans es increible!
