Acerca la carrera
La Petit Le Mans es una carrera de resistencia que se disputa en el autódromo de Road Atlanta, Estados Unidos desde el año 1998. La carrera se celebra en setiembre u octubre, y tiene un doble límite de duración: 1000 millas ó 10 horas. Todas carreras hasta la edición 2008 finalizaron por límite de distancia.
La edición de 1998 de la Petit Le Mans fue un experimento del empresario Don Panoz con la idea crear una categoría de sport prototipos gran turismos en América del Norte que siguiera las mismas reglas que las 24 horas de Le Mans. En 1999, creó la American Le Mans Series en sustitución del Campeonato IMSA GT. Junto con las 12 horas de Sebring, Petit Le Mans ha sido una de las carreras especiales de esa categoría desde su estreno en 1999. Los ganadores de la carrera en cada clase reciben una invitación a las 24 horas de Le Mans del año siguiente.
Como datos Curioso Audi nunca ha perdido en Petit Le mans inclusive en la edición 2008 que estuvieron con una vuelta abajo con respecto a Peugeot.
