Citroen Sport director Olivier Quesnel has confirmed that the French manufacturer will start developing a Super 2000 version of C3 model. The company’s project is expected to commence next month, with the C3 to be present in next few months time, according to Automagazin.co.yu.

Citroen is the most successful manufacturer in the World Rally Championship’s recent history, having dominated the WRC throughout the last four years.

The French company’s Super 2000 project will start from next month, with the hope of building a competitive package in time for new FIA regulations in 2010. The company has released the attached renderings of what its Super 2000 C3 could look like.

Popularity of the Super 2000 regulations has rapidly gained momentum over the past two years, with Toyota, Skoda, Peugeot and Fiat all having S2000 projects either completed or in the works.

Tras la confirmación de los planes de la FIA de basar el Mundial 2011 en coches S2000 con turbo, en Citroen podrían dar luz verde al proyecto C3 S2000. De hecho la revista yugoslava Automagazin dice tener las declaraciones de Olivier Quesnel en las que confirma el desarrollo del nuevo coche, estando previsto su debut en la temporada 2010.

De momento no hay confirmación oficial por parte de Citroen.
