when are we going to see the car at the track?PorscheRacer escribió:The never ending repaint (OK rebody, de-rust, refit and repaint) is really really going to happen this week as I just delivered the paint!
The gearbox is being changed out as I was able to get a good deal on an old F1 Hewland Gearbox with Dog Gears. This is NOT the high tech and high dollar sequential shifted and computer controlled stuff the Almera car has but it is still a fast and strong gearbox that will be geared for our track here. It should give us a better car.
We also have decided to upgrade the brakes to six piston calipers in front and four piston in back with a much larger front and rear rotor combination. This should help us out too.
Final Resolution has been made. Porsche Boxster GT2
Re: A little update
Porscheracer,
I bet by now you have realized that things in Costa Rica run at its own pace, lovely place to live if you have the patience. I am glad to read that your car is close to being ready for racing. I hope I can schedule my next trip there around a race weekend! I am sorry to have to ask, the threat has run very long, and I guess I missed your explanation. Are you running a Porsche Rally car and your Boxter?

I guess I am not completely sure what the Almera box is but from 2 meters away it looked like a modern sequential Hewland gearbox? Boy I sure would like to have one of these paddle shifted 7 speed magic gearboxes in my car! Maybe a sponsor would like to step up?
On the question of the 911 and Boxster being raced/rallied... My 911 is a street car for me. Obviously it is not a modern racing car or rally car, and it is far to valuble to be used for serious competition events. I might run it in the aficianados event once or twice just to let the fans see it and to keep the car set-up right, and to teach those Mitsu cars what an old Porsche can do! The Boxster is a pure racing car, for circuit racing only. I would love to do some rally racing here but in all honesty I am stretched pretty thin with the 911 and Boxster already so that will have to wait.

Here are some long delayed pictures for you guys. I am not happy with the paint job and the fit and finish of the body so we are redoing some of the work but I think you guys get the idea of the car. The front spoiler is not mounted and the rear wing is not yet ready for the car.
We have received our number from Promotor, we are number 6. I will send more pics when we get the car fixed and repainted again.
We are pushing to race in March!
