Japan to be honoured at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2011

Following the tragedies that hit Japan this year, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest has decided to mobilize support for Japan at the 79th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Twenty years ago a Mazda won on the Le Mans circuit. A historic achievement that was both a first in the history of the event and remains a feat unrepeated since then. Despite many attempts by the largest Japanese automakers, the trophy 24 Hours of Le Mans has never returned to the Land of the Rising Sun.

To commemorate this success but also and especially to be with all the Japanese friends of the 24 hours; fans, drivers, technicians, builders ... struck by the terrible tragedy of last March, in a country where the race of La Sarthe is legendary, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest is mobilizing special support.

Firstly, on track on Thursday, 9th June at 18 h 40, will be the legendary Mazda 787 B, victorious in 1991 and restored for this purpose, will take the circuit of its great success, in the hands of American actor Patrick Dempsey. The special demonstration drive will be repeated on Saturday, June 11 at 12h30 with Johnny Herbert at the wheel.

To participate in the exhibition "Le Mans to the Future", Nissan have sent an especially outstanding machine to La Sarthe: the Leaf RC NISMO. This model is the competition version of the Leaf, Electric Vehicle elected European Car of the Year 2011. The Nissan will participate in two driving sessions on the circuit 24 Hours (June 9 to 21h15-21h35 and June 11 to 12h10-12h30).

Another special event will be the gift and the auction of the starting flag of the 79th Le Mans 24 Hours, signed by all drivers in the race. This is the tricolor flag that Jean Todt, President of the FIA, will start the race with on Saturday, June 11 at 15:00 hours. This very special flag will be handed to the Japanese Automobile Federation to be sold to the highest bidder, the profit from the sale to be donated to the Japanese Red Cross.

This flag bearing the autographs of all the participants in the race will also be showcased at the traditional photo of all the drivers gathered for the occasion, at 13h45 on Saturday morning, along with representatives of Mazda, Toyota and Nissan.

At 14h15, in a break from the traditional order of anthems played before the start, the ACO has decided that the Japanese anthem would be played just before the Marseillaise, then they will ask the public massed around the track to join in a vibrant minute of applause in memory of victims of earthquake and tsunami of last March.

Finally, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest will present the Spirit of Le Mans trophy on Thursday, June 9 at 10h00 to Professor Yoshimasa Hayashi from Tokai University. This award is presented by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest to a personality who has best served the spirit of Le Mans ".

La verdad yo respeto al mae, dicen los maes del equipo que es cero alzado y que lo pasan vacilando con la vara de McDreamy y el mae se apunta al vacilón y les dice, ese es mi brete, si no fuera por el Dr. Sheperd no estaríamos corriendo carritos!!! Y que se toma la vara super en serio con los patrocinadores y proveedores. Ese mae si conoche, sabe que es lo que hay que hacer con la platica, jajajajaja.

Mae, en primer lugar, el que está enterado de que el mae se va de la casa de Grace Ana y Tommy es usted, así que ya vemos quien es el que no se pierde episodio.

Y en cuanto a por qué el mae, pues es obvio, el mae es full Mazda mae! Quien más es conocido que esté metido de jupa con las licuadoras? Ese mae es full RX8's con su propio equipo desde hace años y la vara, se merece que le den bola weon!!

Sato no está comprando rotativos con su propia harina y corriéndolos en un campeonato internacional verdad? Ni Sato ni ningún otro Japonés, así que se lo merece Derek Sheperd, jajajajajaja.

Primero que todo felicitar a Oscar y Villamas han hecho un trabajo increible con esta cobertura como dijeron por ahi para que otra pagina!!

luego quiero ver a esos Audi's volando, demasiado bueno el video jajaja me rei bastante pero quiero verlos actuando en pista a ver si es cierto lo que dicen (es la marca que apoyo pero no me gusta que la gente hable sin poder hablar, al rato me demuestran que ellos si pueden)

luego quisiera saber como son esos motores Toyota, ya los probaron?? que tal han salido???

y por ultimo quisiera saber cuanto de la carrera transmitira speed???

El motor Toyota que esta utilizando el equipo Rebellion en su Lola es el RV8KLM, aqui en este enlace podes ver una pequeña ficha tecnica del motor por parte del Grupo Lola:

De hecho el equipo hasta el momento no parece haber tenido problemas con el motor, ellos lo probaron por primera vez bajo condiciones de carrera en las 12 Horas de Sebring, que usaron tambien para probar el nuevo desarrollo del chasis y se porto a las mil maravillas. Esto fue lo que dijo Barth Hayden que es el director del equipo luego de la carrera en Sebring en el pasado mes de marzo...

Bart Hayden, Rebellion Racing Team Manager : Our main goal was to have the car crossing the finish line with an acceptable classification. One this point we have reached the target. The new Toyota engine has proved its reliability over more than 24 hours of running during the week, that’s a good achievement for the forthcoming season and the Le Mans 24 Hours ‘rendez-vous’.
I would like to thank our partners at TMG for their great work and determination. As a team we have grown stronger through the past week.

Nicolas Prost, Lola-Toyota #12 : We had a litle lack of luck today. Because of the trafic, the contact with the Ferrari was unaviodable. Neel and I did a very good race. With our good position on the grid and our pace during the race, we have shown that we have the faster petrol car. Both Rebellion Racing cars were reliable and scored good points today.

Y bueno lo mas importante es que durante los tests del mes de abril en Le Mans todo les salio muy bien y segun el equipo pudieron entender mucho mejor como va la configuracion del motor Toyota con el chasis Lola, ademas de que probaron ciertos componentes nuevos que la mayoria dieron un resultado positivo al igual que en algunos trabajos de "set up", eso si, Andrea Belicchi dijo que al carro se esta quedando un poco corto de velocidad en las rectas pero bueno posiblemente durantes estos ultimos meses el equipo ha estado trabajando en eso y puede que ya lo hayan solucionado.

Por cierto ahorita a las 8:00am dio inicio la primera practica en Le Mans, ya muchos autos estan en pista, Peugeot ocupa la primera posicion temporal con un tiempo de 3.34.2, Audi ocupa la segunda y tercera posicion con tiempo de 3.35.762 (maquina #1) y 3.36.037 (maquina #3) respecticamente.
