me parece que la F2012 andaba un poquito mejor de rendimiento...

Yo en realidad en esta carrera vi esa palangana más lenta que nunca, en los restarts se veía que le pegaban una estiradota...

Yo soy de la misma opinión, después del buen paso de carrera en Monza esperaba más, pero claramente el carro no anda tan bien en tracción mecánica y downforce. A la inversa de lo que se vio de Red Bull hace dos semanas, que andaban fatal en Monza pero ayer fue otra historia.

Una lastima por Hamilton, no se puede discutir que lo venía haciendo muy bien, al parecer McLaren detectó un problema en la caja del MP4-27 de Hamilton ayer pero no quisieron hacer el cambio para evitar la sanción...

Se arriesgaron y pagaron un precio alto... A mi criterio, cambiar caja era salir de 5to lo más por la penalización, y que ese grone hubiera puesto güevos y recuperara al menos una posición a como andaba ese McLaren o en el peor de los casos, que perdiera una pocisión o conservara la 5ta, con eso hubiera pellizcado puntos. Pero se fueron por no perder la pole y ahí el resultado, grone sin puntos, Vettel lo pasa en la tabla y el cejón le mete 15 más!!

Pero en fin, es solo un criterio de un bombeta que esta a años luz de estar sentado en la silla de un Ingeniero de la F1.

Muchachos han leído o escuchado algo más sobre el eventual problema de caja ya la decisión de no cambiarla? Yo también oí cuando por radio le dijeron LH "sorry, we did everything we could yesterday." pero después de eso nada más al respecto... más bien ahora salen en McLaren a decir lo contrario. De hecho lo que leí que dijo el mismo Lewis fue que por casi 2 vueltas anduvo sin tercera marcha, y después se quedó completamente botado.

"It's heart-breaking not to have finished the race today. We definitely had the pace to win this weekend. In fact, before I retired, I was cruising; just managing the gap back to Seb [Vettel]. Then I started to experience difficulty with the gearshift, then I lost third gear, and then the 'box kept dropping into neutral. We have this thing on our car that gives seamless gearshifts and eventually I lost what we call e-shifts and then it became quite an aggressive shift. So I told the team I had lost my e-shifts and they said I should be able to see it out until the end of the race, but then I lost third gear and all the gears went. It was a gearbox failure for sure."


Y ahora tanto Martin Whitmarsh como Sam Michael salen diciendo que no hubo advertencia sobre el fallo sino hasta pocas vueltas antes, y que éste no está en absoluto relacionado con un roce que tuvo la rueda trasera con uno de los muros de la pista:

Sam Michael has denied claims that McLaren were aware of Lewis Hamilton's gearbox issue ahead of Sunday's Singapore GP.


Leading the grand prix from pole position, Hamilton was maintaining his advantage over Sebastian Vettel when, on lap 23 of the flood-lit race, his McLaren slowed down, forcing him to park it.

The Brit's race engineer was heard saying: "We have a gearbox failure. I'm sorry, we did everything we could yesterday."

McLaren, though, denied that the comment meant they were aware of the gearbox issue on Saturday.

"No, Not before," Michael told Autosport.

"They [gearbox warnings] have happened a number of laps before and we have started seeing some issues a few laps before [in other races]. Sometimes it can last all race and sometimes it doesn't, so we had a pretty clear warning."

The sporting director also refuted suggestions that Hamilton's brush with the wall during Saturday's qualifying had anything to do with the failure.

"We had a full inspection after qualifying, and it wasn't related to that," he said.

"I can't see any sign that it is related to that. It is extremely unlikely based on what I think the failure is in my head."

Clipping wall not a factor in Hamilton retirement - McLaren


McLaren does not believe Lewis Hamilton's brush with the wall in qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix resulted in his gearbox failure on race day.

Bruno Senna had to change his gearbox after hitting with the wall in qualifying, but Hamilton's contact was much lighter and he said he had not felt the impact in the cockpit. Team boss Martin Whitmarsh all but ruled out the incident as the cause for Hamilton's gearbox failure on Sunday, which forced the McLaren driver to retire from the race and has dropped him 52 points off Fernando Alonso in the title race.

"If you look at Senna and a few others, they bounced off quite heavily," Whitmarsh said. "This [Sunday] morning I was talking to the guys and the wheel had two or three centimetres of scuff mark on it, but it wasn't damaged and rims are very thin and quite brittle, as you probably know. In fact, the engineers performed NDT all over the suspension and, interestingly enough, they hadn't even looked at the track and camber, and in fact they did in the end because I asked them to. They were absolutely content that it was a very light brush and not one that would create any damage. I don't think today had anything to do with yesterday. It was totally unexpected."

Whitmarsh said McLaren first detected the gearbox problem a few laps before Hamilton's retirement.

"We saw temperature rise and pressures increase as well as a few other phenomena. So painfully we could see it coming for a few laps."

Yo lo de la caja de Lewis lo escuche de una buena fuente el domingo y mas el mensaje que le dieron por radio al mae me terminó de convencer pero aparte de eso no he escuchado nada mas al respecto, solo esa nota que sacaron de McLaren negando las especulaciones como bien dijiste... pero nose, ese "...we did everything we could yesterday" me deja con la espinilla, si es así sería una lastima por los puntos que dejaron ir y si fue de la otra manera como ellos explican también.

Claro Oscar yo también me quedé con la duda del mensaje de radio mae... pero para mí no es una lástima los puntos que dejaron ir, para mi es una BELLEZA!
