El periódico The Boston Globe ha filtrado por ¿accidente? los detalles de la variante más potente del Acura TL, a su vez versión de lujo del Honda Accord para el mercado norteamericano. Los compradores que quieran algo más de nervio para su TL, podrán optar por el nuevo Type S, que con un motor 3.5 V6 de 286 caballos y 256 libras-pie (347 Nm) debería satisfacer sus ansias de sensaciones deportivas.
Aparte de un aumento de 28 caballos, una serie de pequeños detalles estéticos diferencian al Type-S del sedán estándar. Una parrilla con malla metálica de protección, ruedas más grandes, un spoiler trasero y cuatro tubos de escape harán saber al resto de los conductores que no están frente a un TL normal y corriente, mientras que por dentro el conductor encontrará asientos deportivos, acabados en fibra de carbono y un juego de pedales de acero. Motor aparte, a nivel técnico la gran diferencia con respecto al modelo convencional es una suspensión convenientemente endurecida para aumentar el control del automóvil. Su precio será de 39.000 dólares.
Viendo que la prensa ha roto el embargo informativo, suponemos que la marca de lujo de Honda no tardará mucho en proporcionar todos los detalles oficiales sobre el TL Type-S.

The 2007 Acura TL enters the midsized luxury market with revised exterior and interior styling, an improved navigation system and the re-introduction of the Type-S performance model.
The Type-S features 286 horsepower and 256 lb-ft of torque from a new 3.5-liter V6, and includes a re-tuned suspension and S specific exterior styling and interior trim. The engine is mated to a new 5-speed automatic with paddle shifters, or a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission.
